“The past year has seen the closure of both RAF Henlow airfield and RAF Linton-on-Ouse and the civilian aerodromes at Chiltern Park, Maypole, Oakley and Scatsta. It is expected that during 2022 the future of several more of the aerodromes listed will be finally determined.”
With continued challenges as we end 2021, let’s hope 2022 will finally see a return to normality, a revitalised APPG for GA, and increased recognition that airfields are of great value. They are often green spaces (unlike housing estates!), can be sustainable (quiet electric aircraft, etc) and provide local employment as well as training for future pilots, engineers etc.
